Friuli DOC opens a region-wide palette of native whites, aromatic international grapes and supple or structured reds.
Apple, pear and almond-like notes with a dry, gently textured finish.
Pinot Gris.
Orchard fruit and citrus with a fresh, dry palate.
Plum and red berries with herbal detail and a rounded, savoury finish.
Friuli or Friuli Venezia Giulia DOC is a broad origin alongside the region’s smaller named appellations. Friulano, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc make approachable white introductions, with Merlot and other reds offering contrast. A broader label gives producers flexibility within its rules; it does not replace the more specific geography of Collio, Isonzo or the eastern hills. Use grape and producer details to choose between bright, youthful wines and fuller, lees- or oak-shaped bottles.
