Carso-Kras is limestone wine country near Trieste, with vivid Vitovska, fragrant Malvasia and the fresh bite of Terrano.
Citrus, herbs and delicate floral notes with a dry, fresh, textured finish.
Flowers, peach and aromatic herbs with a dry, gently rounded palate.
Sour cherry, dark berries and earthy detail with brisk acidity and a savoury finish.
The Italian Carso or Carso-Kras DOC reflects rocky limestone terrain and the influence of the bora wind. Vitovska and Malvasia Istriana are compelling white introductions; Terrano offers a red with lively acidity. Some producers use extended skin contact for their white grapes, creating amber colour and firmer texture. That method does not automatically mean sweetness, and the Italian DOC is distinct from protected names across the Slovenian border.
