Convento San Lorenzo is a historic Valtellina producer in Lombardy, making DOCG and DOC wines including Sforzato di Valtellina, Valtellina Superiore Sassella, and Rosso di Valtellina. Its vineyards occupy south-facing terraces in Sassella at 400–600 metres, rooted in rocky, sandy glacial soils and supported by centuries-old stone walls. A distinctive walled clos, historically cared for by Benedictine nuns, has been associated with wine production since at least the 1400s. Since 2005, the clos has been cultivated with replanting of Nebbiolo vines to improve sun exposure and working conditions. The wines express the local Nebbiolo and the distinctive character of this historic terroir. No current ownership or sustainability certification is reported.
