Vega Sicilia is a historic estate in Valbuena de Duero, Castilla y León, owned by the Álvarez family since 1982 and led by Pablo Álvarez, with vineyard and winemaking overseen by Javier Ausas López de Castro. Rooted on the banks of the Duero, it is defined by a long-term philosophy of patience, rigor, honesty and respect for nature’s rhythms, including waiting many years before using fruit from new plantings. The estate combines deep tradition with research-led viticulture and winemaking, including soil studies, native yeasts and its own cooperage. Farming is carried out without synthetic phytosanitary products, with strong environmental measures focused on water use, waste reduction, tree planting and carbon-footprint reduction.
