Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana

Spain

Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana is a long-established, family-owned sherry house in Jerez, founded in 1792 and still run by the eighth generation of the Hidalgo family. The estate draws grapes almost entirely from its own vineyards in the Jerez–Sanlúcar de Barrameda area, notably Miraflores, including old Palomino vines. Its vineyards are farmed organically, though the notes are inconsistent on formal certification. Winemaking is rooted in traditional sherry methods, with aging in cathedral-style cellars under the solera system. The house is especially associated with Manzanilla and the production of unfiltered, unfined wines.
