Cune is the Rioja house of family-owned CVNE, founded in Haro in 1879 by the Real de Asúa brothers and now led by fifth-generation Víctor Urrutia. Based in Rioja, it is rooted in long tradition while continuing to modernize, with gravity-fed winemaking at its El Pilar winery and a stated focus on quality, origin, and careful ageing. Vineyard sources include clay-calcareous, ferrous clay, and alluvial soils, with work centered on low-yield and old vines, hand harvesting, and the use of native yeasts. CVNE also highlights sustainable viticulture, an organic range, renewable energy, and environmental certifications at key estates. The wider group includes historic Rioja properties such as Viña Real and Contino, but Cune remains closely tied to Haro and the legacy of one of Rioja’s classic family producers.
