Gulfi

Italy

Gulfi is a family-owned estate in southeastern Sicily, led by third-generation Matteo and Raffaele Catania, continuing a winemaking and olive oil tradition started by Vito Catania. Working across Chiaramonte Gulfi, Pachino, and Etna, the estate focuses on expressing distinct Sicilian terroirs through native varieties and site-specific crus. Farming is certified organic, with biodynamic certification in the vineyards, and all vines are dry-farmed without irrigation. Gulfi relies on traditional alberello bush-vine training, high-density planting, hand harvesting, and massal selection, with a non-invasive cellar approach using indigenous yeasts. Their philosophy, summed up as “Terra, Sole, Tempo, Passione,” emphasizes respect for nature, attention to detail, and preserving the land for future generations.
