Santa Sofia

Italy

Santa Sofia is a family-run estate in Pedemonte, at the heart of Valpolicella, producing wines since 1811. The Begnoni family has owned and operated the winery since the 1960s, with Giancarlo and his son Luciano guiding its focus on quality, innovation and knowledge of the territory. Historic cellars and a Palladian villa form the estate’s setting. Its vineyards, including hilly sites in Valpolicella Classica and Valpantena, are managed with a sustainable approach that respects biodiversity and the environment, without formal certification cited. Winemaking combines low-yield grapes, stainless-steel maceration, Ripasso techniques and oak ageing. The rare Gioè is made only in exceptional seasons, reflecting the estate’s emphasis on site and vintage.
