Château La Commanderie is a modest-sized Saint-Émilion estate owned by founders Andrew and Melody, who acquired it for the quality of its terroir. Its 5.80 hectares are planted on sandy-clay, gravel and iron-rich soils, with vines averaging 46 years old. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted manually, mechanically and optically. The wines are made under the Château La Commanderie and Esprit de la Commanderie labels, with winemaking led by Pascal Chatonnet. The château is also associated with the wider Magali & Thibaut Decoster vineyard group, whose Saint-Émilion properties pursue organic farming, biodiversity and carbon-footprint reduction; however, no sustainability certification or organic practice is specifically reported for Château La Commanderie itself.
