Château Barreyres is a Cru Bourgeois estate in Bordeaux’s Haut-Médoc, owned by Pierre Castel since 1971 and operated within the Château et Domaines Castel group. Its 101-hectare vineyard lies on clay and sandy gravel soils and is planted with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, with vines averaging 30 years old. Terra Vitis certified since 2018, the estate follows sustainable, reasoned viticulture, including parcel-specific cultivation and attention to biodiversity and soil health, although one source describes its farming as conventional. Winemaking is conducted plot by plot in stainless-steel vats, with maturation in barrels sourced from five coopers.
