Cantina Fornacina

Italy

Cantina Fornacina is a small family-run estate near Montalcino in Tuscany, founded by Ruggero Biliorsi and now led by Simone and Mauro Biliorsi. The winery has been producing Brunello since the 1981 harvest and works in a traditional Montalcino style, with large oak casks and a low-intervention approach in the cellar, including spontaneous fermentations. Certified organic by ICEA since 2004, Fornacina farms its vineyards with close attention to the land, using practices such as green manure, mechanical weeding, and copper and sulfur treatments. Fruit comes from estate vineyards around the winery and from Castelnuovo dell’Abate, combining differing soils and exposures to shape wines of structure, freshness, and mineral character. The range centers on Brunello di Montalcino, Brunello Riserva in the best vintages, Rosso di Montalcino, and Grappa di Brunello.
