Mas de l’Abundància is a small, family-owned estate in Montsant, Catalonia, held by the del Rio Mateu family since 1892. Originally belonging to the monks of the Prior of Scala Dei, the property is now overseen by owner-winemaker Jesús del Rio Mateu, a farmer, PhD anthropologist, poet and philosopher. Its vineyards are planted with Carignan, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Blanc on slate and alluvial soils, including 120-year-old vines. The estate produces four core wines and six labels, expressing a focused, hands-on family approach.
