Founded and owned by Laura Catena, Domaine Nico is a Mendoza producer devoted to high-altitude, single-parcel Pinot Noir from the Uco Valley, including Gualtallary and Villa Bastías in Tupungato. The project began with Pinot Noir plantings in 1993 and grew from Catena’s fascination with Burgundy, exploring how different clones, soils, and elevations shape the variety. Its five parcels lie on alluvial and calcareous soils at 1,120–1,500 metres, producing aromatic wines that express their individual locations. Winemaking is led by Catena with Roy Urvieta, Belén, and Alejandro Vigil, using wild-yeast micro-vinifications and French oak ageing before blending. The wines reflect a focused effort to demonstrate Argentina’s potential for distinctive Pinot Noir.
