Meerendal is a family-owned wine estate in South Africa’s Western Cape, with a heritage dating to 1702. The Coertze family has been involved since 2004, and Wade Roger-Lund leads the winemaking. The estate farms its own vineyards and makes the wines in its cellar, combining historic concrete fermentation tanks with modern stainless-steel equipment. Its cool-climate site, clay soils, varied elevations and orientations, ocean influence and Mediterranean climate shape the wines. Meerendal is particularly notable for its 1955 Heritage Block Pinotage, part of the Old Vine Project, and its heritage Muscat d’Alexandrie. Alongside its wines, the estate operates a tasting room, restaurants and boutique accommodation.
