Producer

Artuke

Spain

Artuke is a family-owned estate in Baños de Ebro, Rioja Alavesa, founded by Roberto de Miguel in 1991 and now run by his sons Arturo and Kike. The brothers farm organically, with certification from the Euskadi Council, and also follow biodynamic practices, hand-harvesting their grapes from multiple plots around Baños de Ebro, Ábalos, San Vicente de Sonsierra and Samaniego. Poor sand, gravel and chalk soils, head-pruned vines, and sites such as the 1950-planted Finca de los Locos shape the wines. In the cellar, Artuke focuses on low-intervention methods, including indigenous yeasts, carbonic maceration, concrete and stainless steel, neutral French oak foudres, and soft filtration.
