Paolo Conterno

Italy

Founded in 1886, Paolo Conterno is a family-owned estate in Monforte d’Alba’s historic Ginestra cru, now owned and managed by fifth-generation winemaker Giorgio Conterno. The family farms calcareous-clayey marl vineyards at 300–350 metres, using sustainable practices and focusing on Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Winemaking remains traditional, with vertical fermentation tanks and ageing in large French oak barrels. Alongside its Langhe holdings, the estate operates properties in Asti/Monferrato and Tuscany, where it cultivates both international and regional varieties. Its wines include traditional Barolo and other Piedmontese bottlings, complemented by Tuscan wines, and have received recognition from major Italian guides and international critics.
