Vinification & maturation
Italy
Garzöl is a small winery in Valgella, Teglio, in Valtellina, founded by longtime friends Denis and Giulio, whose farming families have cultivated vineyards for generations. Working on steep, terraced slopes with hand-built dry-stone walls, they practice heroic viticulture and are developing a vineyard recovery plan centered on biodiversity. Nebbiolo, locally known as Chiavennasca, is the principal grape and the wines aim to express the mountain territory, vintage, and individual vineyard. Manual work and minimal intervention guide every stage, from hand-harvesting healthy grapes to gentle pressing and bottling. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in steel using indigenous yeasts, producing vibrant natural wines rooted in Valtellina’s heritage.
