Bodega Abeica is a family-owned winery in Ábalos, Rioja Alta, run by the Fernández family across four and five generations. Its vineyards in Ábalos and San Vicente de la Sonsierra, some held by the family for over 90 years, are farmed organically without certification on clay-limestone soils at 450–590 metres. The family focuses on artisanal, sustainable wines while using technology where appropriate. Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected, with whole-cluster fermentation, carbonic maceration, foot-treading, no filtration and occasional natural fining. Only vintages considered suitable are made as Crianza, Reserva or Gran Reserva. Tempranillo predominates, alongside Viura, Garnacha and Mazuelo.
