Rías Baixas wines capture an Atlantic corner of Galicia, where river valleys and sheltered coastal vineyards give Albariño its best-known Spanish home. Explore five subzones: Val do Salnés, Condado do Tea, O Rosal, Soutomaior and Ribeira do Ulla. Bright citrus and orchard-fruit whites are an inviting starting point, but local blends with Loureira and Treixadura bring further possibilities. Coastal influence, inland warmth and the producer’s choices create subtle differences. Compare youthful bottles with wines aged on their lees or matured longer. Rías Baixas is an origin, while Albariño is a grape: the two names tell related but different stories.
