Chenin Blanc.
Apple, quince and citrus, from bright young wines to textured, barrel-aged expressions.
Shiraz.
Dark berries, plum and peppery spice, with a dry, savoury finish.
Grenache.
Red berries, herbs and a dry, supple palate, often lighter in feel than the richest Syrah.
Swartland combines several soils and vineyard settings. Chenin, Syrah and Mediterranean varieties are particularly rewarding, with smaller ward names giving more detail.
