Château de Saint Cosme

France

Saint Cosme is a historic family estate in Gigondas, in the Rhône Valley, owned by the Barruol family since 1490. Louis Barruol took over in 1992, with Nicolas Chevrol leading winemaking since 2016. Farming is organic and biodynamic, with organic practices dating to the 1970s and biodynamic certification since 2010. The estate is known for old vines, a cool microclimate, and varied soils, and works with native yeasts, whole-cluster fermentation, and wines made without fining or filtration. Saint Cosme also runs a Rhône négociant business and expanded with the 2019 acquisition of Château de Rouanne in Vinsobres.
