Pinot Noir

Producer

Louis Max

France

Founded in Burgundy in 1859 by Evgueni Louis Max, Maison Louis Max is based in Nuits-Saint-Georges and combines domaine wines with négociant production. Its work is grounded in detailed knowledge of Burgundy’s appellations, climates and terroirs, with a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and a house style marked by freshness and elegance. The domaine had been farmed organically for eight years by 2017, alongside broader efforts toward biodiversity preservation, reduced conventional treatments and improved soil fertility; no certification was reported. Winemaking has typically included around 50% whole clusters, foot pigeage and no cold maceration. The house also applies its Burgundian expertise to Côte du Rhône and southern French wines, including IGP d’Oc Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made in collaboration with David Duband.
