Château Fontenil

France

Château Fontenil is a Bordeaux estate acquired by Dany and Michel Rolland in 1986 and operated by Michel Rolland, who also serves as winemaker. Its 11 hectares of vines average around 45 years old. Viticulture is described as sustainable, with manual plot-by-plot harvesting and careful yield control through pruning and green harvesting, although no formal certification is noted. Fermentation takes place in small stainless-steel and wooden vats, with barrel stock refreshed annually. The estate produces six wines, reflecting a hands-on approach shaped by Michel Rolland’s direct involvement.
