Producer

The Sadie Family

South Africa

The Sadie Family is a family-owned producer in South Africa’s Western Cape, based in the Swartland around Malmesbury and Paardeberg. Founded in 1999 by Eben Sadie, with Paul Jordaan leading the cellar since 2020, the estate is known for site-specific, terroir-driven wines from old, unirrigated vineyards, including Grenache from Piekenierskloof. Farming is organic, with strong emphasis on dry farming, soil regeneration, water conservation and old-vine preservation, alongside a dedicated water-treatment system and an off-grid winery under construction. In the cellar, the focus is on modest-scale, low-intervention winemaking using concrete vats and large casks.
