Koehler-Ruprecht is a long-established family-owned estate in Kallstadt in the Pfalz, with roots in the 1700s. Working chiefly from the limestone-influenced sites of Saumagen, Steinacker and Annaberg, the winery is especially known for Riesling and a traditional, terroir-focused style. Under winemaker Dominik Sona and cellar master Franziska Schmitt, the estate farms organically with manual harvesting, no irrigation, no herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and only limited fungicide use when needed. In the cellar, grapes are gently handled, spontaneously fermented in old large oak barrels, and often given long lees ageing with late bottling. Koehler-Ruprecht remains committed to the Prädikat system and avoids interventions such as chaptalization and acidification, aiming for wines of strength, elegance and longevity.
