Domaine Gautheron

France

Gautheron is a seven-generation family Chablis estate in Burgundy, with Alain Gautheron having handed day-to-day management to his son Cyril. The domaine farms Petit Chablis, Chablis, Premier Cru, Grand Cru and Bourgogne Blanc vineyards on Kimmeridgian and Portlandian limestone soils rich in fossilized shells. Viticulture is low-yield and terroir-focused, with lutte raisonnée practices including green harvesting, no chemical weed killers and natural pest control. The estate is HVE certified, with one parcel farmed organically since 2009 and further organic-style trial work. Its wines are described as fresh, complex, elegant and refined.
