Château du Petit Thouars

France

Château du Petit Thouars is a historic, family-owned estate in Chinon, Loire Valley, held by the family since 1636 and now run by 12th-generation vignerons under Sébastien, Count du Petit Thouars. Relaunched as a wine estate in 1975, it is planted on a clay-and-limestone plateau with Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. The wines are in conversion to organic and are also described as certified organic, with agriculture raisonnèe (sustainable farming) noted. Wines are aged in French oak casks and the estate’s historic troglodyte limestone cellars provide a distinctive setting for tastings and tours. The family offers intimate vineyard visits, local-product pairings, and picnics overlooking the Loire Valley countryside.
