Villa Matilde Avallone is a family-owned winery in Campania, founded in the 1960s by Francesco Paolo Avallone with the ambitious goal of reviving the ancient Roman wine Falerno. The project, now led by the second and third generations, combines historical research with a contemporary vision. The philosophy centers on a deep connection to the land, interpreting distinct territories—from the Roccamonfina volcano to the hills of Sannio and Irpinia—through indigenous varieties like Aglianico, Piedirosso, and Falanghina. Sustainability is integral, with practices such as a Zero Emissions project, biomass use, water management, and electric vehicles. The winery avoids standardization, aiming instead for authentic expressions that reflect each site's identity, supported by ongoing research and precision in winemaking.
