Producer

Sandeman

Portugal

Sandeman is a historic Douro producer founded in 1790 by George Sandeman and now owned by the family-owned Portuguese group Sogrape Vinhos. Its Quinta do Seixo estate in the Douro supplies grapes for Port, including Vintage Port, while the house also maintains historic aging cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia and bodegas in Jerez. Winemaking is led by Luís Sottomayor. Sandeman combines traditional methods such as hand-picking, foot-treading and oak-cask aging with a long record of innovation in branding and presentation, notably the iconic “Don” image. The estate follows IOBC Sustainable Agriculture Integrated Production guidelines.
