Il Verro

Italy

Il Verro is a family-run organic estate in Formicola, in Campania’s upper Caserta area, founded in 2003 by five longtime friends and now run by the Avenia family. The winery focuses on native local grapes—Pallagrello Bianco, Pallagrello Nero, Casavecchia and the rare Coda di Pecora—with Adriano Avenia leading the winemaking alongside Cesare Avenia and consultant Vincenzo Mercurio. Vineyards on volcanic, lava-rich soils near Monte Maggiore, with south to south-east exposure and strong day-night temperature swings, shape wines noted for freshness, sapidity and minerality. The estate’s philosophy centres on rediscovering and promoting Casertan traditions through organic farming and small-scale, territory-driven wines.
