Terre Porziane

Italy

Terre Porziane is a sixth-generation, family-owned estate in Lazio, run by Antonio and Fulvia Pulcini, who both make the wines. Antonio took over in 1974. The estate works southwest-facing volcanic tufa slopes, including a flagship 3-hectare vineyard, with aggressive pruning and very low yields. Its organic-style viticulture avoids synthetic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides, although no formal certification is noted. The Pulcinis focus on indigenous varieties, using long skin contact, slow fermentation and lees aging to express the mineral character of the volcanic soils.
