Cantele

Italy

Cantele is a family-owned winery in Guagnano, in Puglia’s Salento, founded in 1979 by Giovanni Battista Cantele and now led by the third generation, with younger family involvement emerging. The estate combines family continuity with a technical, research-driven approach shaped by Augusto Cantele’s enological background and carried forward by Gianni Cantele. Farming is sustainability-focused rather than certified organic, with integrated pest management, no synthetic insecticides, precision viticulture, renewable energy, and research partnerships with universities and institutes. In the cellar, Cantele emphasizes technical precision, indigenous and non-Saccharomyces yeast research, and an open, “without dogma” philosophy that includes experimental work such as Negroamaro metodo classico. Through its iSensi space, the winery also connects wine with food, art, music, and local culture.
