Santa Margherita

Italy

Founded in 1935 by Count Gaetano Marzotto on revitalized abandoned land in the Veneto countryside, Santa Margherita is now a major family-owned Italian wine group held by Zignago Holding. Based in northern Italy, with roots in Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto, it is especially known for Pinot Grigio and Prosecco, sourcing Pinot Grigio from the cooler upper Valdadige and investing early in Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. The estate emphasizes regional character alongside modern production, with Loris Vazzoler leading winemaking. Sustainability is central to its identity, including organic farming across more than half its vineyards, certified organic wines, biodiversity and reforestation projects, renewable-energy self-sufficiency, and a carbon-neutral Pinot Grigio program.
