Rooiberg

South Africa

Founded in 1964 in South Africa’s Western Cape, Rooiberg is a private collective winery owned by 20 shareholder members. It manages 15 farms and sources grapes from 20 growers, with winemaking led by André van Dyk. The operation emphasizes clean-green production and nature conservation, contributing R3 per bottle to the Rooiberg Breede River Conservancy, although no formal sustainability certifications are noted. Rooiberg produces a substantial volume of wine from its broad grower and vineyard network, and its wines have received recognition including eleven gold medals at the Vitis Vinifera Awards.
