Teso La Monja is a Toro estate owned by Moët Hennessy since 2008, with the Eguren family still closely involved in management and winemaking. Its identity centers on a single vineyard of ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines planted in 1885 in Valdefinjas, on chalky, sandy and clay soils with surface galets. Farming is organic, dry-farmed and hand-worked, with biodynamic practices, no herbicides, and an emphasis on natural vineyard balance; the winery is also described as certified organic. Winemaking is low-intervention, including hand-picking, indigenous yeasts and foot-pressing, and is overseen by Marcos, Miguel, Guillermo and Eduardo Eguren. The range combines an ultra-limited flagship wine with broader estate bottlings.
