Pierre & Bertrand Couly

France

Pierre & Bertrand Couly is a family-owned domaine in Chinon, in France’s Loire Valley, with a winemaking lineage in Saint-Louans dating to the 15th century. Managed by Pierre and Bertrand Couly, with the next generation also involved, the estate focuses on expressing the diversity of Chinon’s terroirs through Cabernet Franc reds and rosés and Chenin Blanc. Sustainable farming is central: the domaine holds HVE certification and practices agroecology, agroforestry, biodiversity management and eco-grazing, while avoiding insecticides and herbicides. Winemaking uses indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention, with some cuvées made without added sulfites. A partially buried, energy-efficient cellar complements this environmentally conscious approach.
