Karl Erbes is a family-owned estate in Ürzig, Mosel, founded in 1967 by Karl Erbes and now led by his son, winemaker Stefan Erbes. The estate works steep, slate-based vineyards in Ürziger Würzgarten, Erdener Treppchen and Erdener Prälat, including own-rooted vines up to 80 years old. Hand-harvesting, low yields and intensive manual work reflect a quality-focused, site-specific approach. With no formal sustainability certification listed, the domaine’s low-input viticulture emphasizes careful stewardship of its steep slopes and the character of its vineyards.
