Dr. Loosen

Germany

Dr. Loosen is a historic, family-owned Riesling estate in the Mosel, led by owner-winemaker Ernst “Erni” Loosen since 1988. Drawing on old, ungrafted vines in historic Grosse Lagen of the Central Mosel, the estate focuses on terroir-driven wines from steep slate vineyards. A VDP member since 1993, it follows traditional Mosel-style winemaking rooted in the 1900s, including single-vineyard Rieslings from classified sites. Farming emphasizes low yields, no chemical fertilisers, strict fruit selection, and gentle cellar handling. The result is a classic, origin-focused producer deeply tied to Mosel Riesling heritage.
