Bodegas Tobía

Spain

Bodegas Tobía is a family-owned Rioja producer based in Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, Rioja Alta, founded by Óscar Tobía and Ana Castello. Rooted in four generations of viticulture, the project combines family tradition with an inventive, environmentally conscious approach. Óscar Tobía, trained in viticulture and oenology, leads the winemaking, using native-yeast fermentations, cold maceration, Ganimede fermenters that capture CO₂, gentle peristaltic pumping and nitrogen-gelatin flotation. The winery also experiments with non-oak barrels made from woods including ash, cherry, acacia and chestnut. Its history includes producing Spain’s first barrel-fermented rosé, Alma Tobía, in 1996. The wines have received recognition from Wine Spectator and Guía de Vinos Gourmet, and have been selected repeatedly as the institutional wine of DOCa Rioja.
