Badia a Coltibuono

Italy

Badia a Coltibuono is a historic Chianti Classico estate in Tuscany, rooted in an abbey founded in 1051 and owned by the Stucchi Prinetti family since 1846, now in its fifth generation. The family farms organically, having begun conversion in 1985 and achieved certification in 2000, with cover crops, composting, biodiversity-focused practices and broader sustainability initiatives. Roberto Stucchi Prinetti leads the winemaking in a low-intervention style, using spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts and gentle cellar techniques to highlight Sangiovese and traditional Chianti varieties. The estate also produces olive oil and remains deeply tied to the cultural and agricultural history of Chianti.
