Vins Algars

Spain

Vins Algars is a family-owned winery in Batea, Terra Alta, with more than 80 years of history. The estate comprises 32 hectares of its own vineyards, farmed organically since 2008, on calcareous, stony and clay-calcareous soils across different elevations. The winery uses only estate-grown grapes, focusing on indigenous Garnacha Blanca, Garnacha Tinta and Garnacha Peluda, and controls the process from vineyard management through marketing. Its wines reflect Terra Alta’s hot, dry climate and distinctive local varieties. Alongside the family winery, a personal project begun in 2021 explores small-batch expressions of Garnacha Peluda, including wines from a vineyard planted from massal selections of an old vine. A new winery, completed in 2020, supports the estate’s continued development while maintaining a connection to its origins.
