Quinta do Ermizio

Portugal

Quinta do Ermízio is a family-owned producer in Ronfe, Guimarães, in Minho’s Vinho Verde region, led by Antonio A. Monteiro, a retired horticulture professor. Founded in 1984, the estate farms Loureiro, Trajadura and Alvarinho on granitic, well-drained soils, using an integrated, largely organic approach with cover crops, undisturbed soils, hand harvesting and biological pest control. Vineyard plots are picked and vinified separately, with minimalist élevage in stainless steel and only minimal additions at bottling, aiming to preserve grape and site character. The wines, especially Alvarinho, are noted for freshness and minerality, and the estate’s Chin Chin Vinho Verde has drawn international press attention.
