Producer

Jean-Louis Dutraive

France

Jean-Louis Dutraive runs the family-owned Domaine de la Grand’Cour in Beaujolais, taking over from his father in 1989 after the property was purchased by the family in 1969. The domaine includes the historic Grand’Cour vineyard parcel and has been organically certified by ECOCERT since 2009. Dutraive works with a hands-on, low-intervention approach: hand harvesting, low-temperature carbonic maceration, indigenous-yeast fermentations, minimal sulfur, and no fining or filtration. Ageing is done in used Burgundy barrels, with some old foudres or cement tanks. The estate remains a family affair, with Jean-Louis joined by his children Justin, Ophélie, and Lucas, who are also involved in a small micro-négoce.
