Gorghi Tondi

Italy

Gorghi Tondi is a family-run estate in southwestern Sicily, with vineyards near Mazara del Vallo between the Mediterranean and the WWF-protected Lago Preola e Gorghi Tondi nature reserve. Managed by sisters Annamaria and Clara Sala, the winery continues a family history spanning four generations, rooted in the vision of their great-grandmother Dora and developed by their parents, Michele Sala and Doretta Tumbarello. Viticulture is certified organic (IT-BIO-009) and guided by biodiversity protection, sustainable practices and the VIVA programme. The estate focuses on native Sicilian varieties, especially Grillo, expressing the influence of calcareous soils, coastal breezes and the reserve’s distinctive microclimate. Its wines include still and sparkling expressions, as well as limited-production styles such as the Grillo-based botrytized Grillodoro. The Maioliche range celebrates Sicilian ceramic art, while the winery also produces organic extra-virgin olive oil.
