Founded in 1985 by Rioja professionals, Barón de Ley is a family winery in Rioja built around the château concept, with a 16th-century monastery at its estate. It owns more than 600 hectares of vineyards across Rioja Alta, Rioja Oriental and Rioja Alavesa, cultivating ten varieties and managing the vines through hand harvesting and selection. The winery places the vineyard at the centre of quality, combining Rioja tradition with an open, innovative approach that includes native varieties, experimentation and new ageing methods. It is particularly known for Reserva and Gran Reserva wines, matured in extensive barrel cellars. Technical director and head winemaker Pablo Tascón works with consulting winemaker Gonzalo Rodríguez, while the historic monastery remains home to the production of Finca Monasterio.
