OENOPS

Greece

Founded in 2015 by winemaker and owner Nikos Karatzas, Oenops Wines is a privately owned producer based in Prosotsani, Drama, Northern Greece. Operating as a micro-négociant with no estate vineyards, it works closely with carefully selected growers across Drama, Macedonia, and Greece, emphasizing intentional farming and a sustainable ethos. Oenops focuses exclusively on indigenous varieties including Xinomavro, Vidiano, Limniona, and Roditis, seeking clear expressions of place, old vines, and cooler microclimates. Karatzas, a chemical engineer and Bordeaux-trained oenologist, employs a minimal-intervention approach using clay amphoras, concrete, and neutral vessels rather than heavy oak. The resulting wines are fruit-forward, juicy, and transparent, with the RAW and DOTS series particularly focused on varietal character and terroir.
