Monte Santoccio

Italy

Monte Santoccio is a small, independently owned estate in Fumane, Valpolicella, run by founder-winemaker Nicola Ferrari, formerly an assistant to Giuseppe Quintarelli. Its approximately three hectares of vines are farmed organically, with grapes exclusively from the estate’s own vineyards. The winery is adjacent to the vines, allowing Ferrari to oversee the entire process from cultivation through vinification. Producing very limited quantities, Monte Santoccio focuses on traditional Valpolicella styles, including Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso aged extensively on Amarone lees. The wines emphasize a clear expression of terroir and careful, hands-on work in both vineyard and cellar.
