Weingut Alten is a small, family-owned and operated winery in Detzem on the Middle Moselle. The Alten family cultivates steep, slate-soil vineyards, primarily planted to Riesling, using manual labor, low yields and selective harvesting. In the cellar, minimal intervention and restrained treatment support a purist style intended to express the character of the terroir. While no formal sustainability certification is listed, the estate’s practices reflect a harmony-with-nature philosophy.
