Cantine Balbiano is a family-owned winery in Andezeno, in Piedmont’s Chierese hills, founded in 1941 by Melchiorre Balbiano and now run by the third generation, including winemaker Luca Balbiano. The estate focuses particularly on Freisa di Chieri, an indigenous local variety, alongside Barbera, Bonarda, Malvasia and Cari. Farming is described as sustainable, with manual harvesting. Its history includes restoring Turin’s historic Villa della Regina vineyard, while Luca’s work with the Urban Vineyards Association reflects a commitment to protecting urban viticulture. The winery combines traditional production with modern facilities and offers visits to its cellars and family museums dedicated to rural life and antique toys.
