Château Routas is a Provence estate in the Coteaux Varois en Provence appellation, owned by Sir David Murray and his family since 2005. Its hillside vineyards lie at 250–350 metres, surrounded by forest and planted to Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier and Chardonnay. Clay-limestone soils, varied stony plots and cool nights encourage slow ripening and aromatic freshness in the Rhône-style wines. The estate follows High Environmental Value practices, avoiding herbicides, pesticides and irrigation, using organic animal- and plant-based inputs, and prioritising biodiversity. Winemaker Jean Louis Bavay, formerly of Domaine Ott, and vineyard manager Philippe Saraciva oversee early harvesting and careful maceration, with a focus on balanced, fresh wines.
